U-FREIGHT JAPAN APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF SALES

International logistics group, U-Freight has promoted Shuji Tomonaga to the position of Executive Officer, Sales, with overall responsibility for the management and ongoing development of the company's sales activities in Japan.

Mr Tomonaga has over 20 years experience of the international transportation industry and has been with U-Freight since 1998, holding various management positions including, most recently, General Manager, Western Japan.

Comments Mr Ryosuke Yoshida, President of U-Freight Japan: quot;The promotion of Shuji Tomonaga is an important step in the ongoing development of our activities in Japan. His sales experience and knowledge of the marketplace will be a great asset to us as we strive to increase our presence in this competitive market.quot;

U-Freight offers the full range of air and seafreight logistics operations throughout its network in Japan, which incorporates three offices in Tokyo, and others in Osaka and Fukuoka.

U-Freight's most recent development in Japan saw the opening of a new office at Tokyo's Narita International airport. This marked an important step in the expansion of U-Freight Japan and places the company in a strong position to take advantage of the expected growth in airfreight traffic once the new Narita Air Cargo Center is completed. With various phases totaling more than 1.4 million square feet, it is expected to become Japan's largest dedicated air cargo logistics park.

While airfreight accounts for a significant proportion of U-Freight's business in Japan, it also offers ocean freight forwarding services in association with U-Ocean Japan Co Ltd, the company's dedicated ocean freight associate in Japan. Some of the key commodities handled are electronic goods, textiles and machinery.
