When uncertainty is the only certainty
Welcome to the 49th edition of Service without Boundaries, the U-Freight Group’s quarterly newsletter.

When I consider the issues currently facing anyone involved in the logistics that underpin international supply chains, I am reminded of that old saying: “Uncertainty is the only certainty there is.”

It is anyone’s guess how the massive disruption affecting all modes of transport over the last two years will pan out in 2022, though plenty of industry experts are giving their opinions.

The prolonged impact of the pandemic led to a full-scale meltdown of global supply chains, with freight rates soaring and capacity hard to come by across all modes.

Huge consumer and business demand for product carried on right through 2021 and while the initial issues impacting the supply chain were said to be due to COVID-19, it remains to be seen if that is still the case, or whether all the problems and difficulties plaguing the freight and logistics industry are due to deeper and wider issues.

Two things that are certain are that supply chain disruptions look set to continue deep into 2022, and U-Freight will be doing our very best to address and solve any logistics problems that arise.

The other part of the quote I used above is that “knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security”.

And with that thought in mind I send you my best wishes for 2022 and hope that both your private and business lives are as secure and certain as they possibly can be in the new year that is already one month old.
